We’re celebrating our 5th Anniversary!

Our Association of Doctors and Psychologists “Eating Disorders: Therapy and Prevention”was founded in Ukraine on 6 October 2015, with the purpose to share experience how to provide high quality care to the patients with eating disorders and to prevent these conditions. The Association brought together clinicians, psychologists, psychotherapists, nutritionists and specialists in other fields into one professional team.

The activities of the Association are aimed at cooperation and exchange of experience with international organizations and experts in treatment of eating disorders, as well as at the development and implementation of educational materials and treatment guidelines, for the specialists working with eating disorders.

Another important task of the Association is attracting public attention to the problem of eating disorders among the population of Ukraine. Which includes raising awareness about this issue in families, educational institutions and sports societies, along with promotion of the educational activities among the people who are in high-risk group.

On March 1, 2020, the first issue of the journal “Eating Disorders: Modern Experience” was published, edited by the Association of Doctors and Psychologists “Eating Disorders: Therapy and Prevention”.

In this first issue of the Journal the scientific and practice materials of The 3rd International Round Table “Specific Features of the team approach in the treatment of eating disorders” are presented, and “Case Studies of Eating Disorders: Techniques that Help Professionals”.

The main idea with which this journal was created was summarizing the best international and Ukrainian practices in the field of eating disorders, giving an opportunity to the specialists in different fields to share their expertise and experience, drawing public attention to the topical issues of eating disorders.

The second issue of the journal is now being prepared for release.

The Journal is recommended to the experts who work with the clients with disordered eating  – to the psychologists, psychiatrists, general practitioners, nutritionists,  gastroenterologists and other specialists.

 

3 Round Table discussions

During these five years, the Association hosted three round-table discussions – the general meetings, during which experts shared their experience, information and  innovations in the field of eating disorders, discussed perspectives and challenges of work with eating disorders.

The Association consolidates professionals interested in providing of high quality care for eating disorders. The members of our Association are experts in different fields – psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, physicians, dietitians, nutritionists – rendering qualified professional assistance to the people suffering from eating disorders, and to their families.

 

The Association issued a booklet “What to do if your friend or relative has an eating disorder” containing information on assistance to the people suffering from eating disorder, as well as recommendations of support and self-help for the people whose relatives and friends have disordered eating.
